Experience

I first had the chance to experience teaching when I was a nine years old. At this time in my life, I helped first graders better learn their arithmetic skills. After this experience, I've had many other chances to work as a tutor. This includes being a summer camp counselor, serving as a substitute teacher, and being a geology teacher assistant. I also have experience helping gifted students with subjects during the summer and on weekends. The topics I focused on were science, art, mathematics, and French studies.I really enjoy teaching because I love to help students realize how fun learning can be. I also think it's important to always learn and grow as a person. While I enjoy helping students with a wide range of subjects, I especially love teaching science and math topics, because I've always loved those topics. As for education: I have both a BA degree from UMass-Amherst and an MS degree from Michigan State. During high school, I was on my school's math team club. This helped to spark my love of math. I also love language and have studied many languages, including German, French, Latin, and Mandarin Chinese. When I'm not studying or teaching, you can find me knitting, dancing, and serving as a volunteer.
